Cleo is an extraordinarily sassy, loud, ambitious woman who always has something to say. Her instincts tend to take her to center stage, seeking the spotlights and attention, and often letting the adrenaline get ahead of her.

Though she grew up in a fairly affluent household, she left home and traveled to LA as soon as she could to pursue a career as a concept artist. It was a struggle, and she bounced from one gig to the next until she met Seth, the lead developer for a small indie studio, who brought her on to work on a procedurally generated space adventure game.
Not long after, through incredible luck, they gained the attention and funding from a massive publisher known as Eden Games. They were thrust in front of an audience they couldn’t imagine, and where Seth was terrible in front of cameras, Cleo stepped in as an unofficial face of the small team.

And everything was great!
Until it wasn’t…

Cleo’s penchant for the spotlight, along with her ego and energy in interviews (and habit of embellishing the truth), wound up a to be a perfect storm to fuel a runaway hype train that nobody on the team knew how to temper.

At launch, the game was chastised as a massive fraud. The reputation of the studio tanked, and being the largest face of their team, Cleo’s tanked along with it.

Deserved or not, Seth threw her under the bus, and with tail between her legs she packed her things to fly back home…

The world can be cruel, It can be rough and mean and full of darkness. But if you keep your head up and keep pushing through, things will always be better. It just takes hard work. At least, this is what Sylas had always told himself. From a young age, he’d always taken to heart that good things comes to those who put in the elbow grease, that if you work hard enough and stay honest the sun will always shine higher in the sky.

The truth is that he grew up in Texas to a single parent, his father, who was a cop and always taught him that nobody respects a crybaby. Sylas took it to heart, particularly after his father died on the job, and left him traveling across the nation to live with distant relatives in Chicago, and life only remained difficult since.

He’s since worked around the clock in any job he can find to support the family he’s wound up with, and has taken little time for himself. Though every stone eventually cracks, he’s promised himself he’ll weather any outcome, because it’s the right thing to do.

Theodora, or just Theo, aspired for her entire mortal life to work in video games, particularly MMORPGs. She’d strike at new inspirations when they arose, taught herself to code, and eventually pushed her way into the industry. When the opportunity came to work at a major company, Eden Games, she leapt on it and found herself in quality assurance.

The excitement didn’t last.
A couple years later, Theo found herself overworked, and burned out. Her passion for making her own MMO was becoming more and more obviously out of reach, even if you ignore the work that has to go into making such a thing. It all came to a breaking point when her superiors discovered the personal work, and notified her of breaking their internal non-compete clause.

And that would be that.

By the sheerest of chances, Theo found herself flung into the jaws of eternity.
